Most factories already collect the data they need. What they usually lack is a way to see it that makes sense to everyone who walks into the room, with production, maintenance, quality and management each reading the same screen and drawing the same conclusion. Kingfisher renders the plant floor as a live 3D digital twin in the browser, with equipment status, throughput and alarms shown on the machines themselves.

What you can monitor

  • Production lines: machine state, cycle counts, throughput against target, bottleneck identification
  • OEE components: availability, performance and quality, per line or per cell
  • Equipment condition: motor status, temperatures, vibration where instrumented, fault codes
  • Robot and automation cells: cycle state, fault status, interlocks
  • Conveyance and material flow: line occupancy, buffer levels, blockage and starve conditions
  • Utilities and services: compressed air, power consumption, HVAC serving the production area

Andon-style status can be surfaced directly on the 3D view, so a shopfloor display and the management dashboard are the same underlying scene at different zoom levels.

How it connects

Discrete manufacturing has largely standardised on OPC UA, and Kingfisher connects to it natively, including PLCs and line controllers already exposing an OPC UA server.

Siemens S7 PLCs are supported natively, without an OPC UA gateway in between. For the large number of plants running S7-200/300/400/1200/1500 hardware, that means the existing control layer stays exactly as it is and only the visualisation changes. Data points can be exported to Excel for bulk configuration, so a plant with thousands of tags is a configuration exercise rather than a project.

Modbus TCP covers energy meters, drives and older equipment, and Modbus RTU handles serial devices still in service on legacy lines.

Kingfisher also integrates with existing ERP, MES and industrial IoT platforms, so it fits alongside the systems a plant already runs.

Why 3D for manufacturing specifically

A factory is the one industrial environment where nearly everyone already has a spatial mental model, because people walk the floor. A 3D twin matches how the team already thinks about the plant, which is why it tends to be adopted faster than a new set of 2D dashboards.

It also changes who can use the system. A production manager who would never open a SCADA client will read a 3D floor view, because it looks like the floor. That widens the audience for data the plant is already collecting.
